Wine Club Niellucio Sangiovese

We have been producing Sangiovese, as a varietal and in blends, for over 20
years now. But, calling it by its Corsican name of “Nielluccio” is a new one for us!
2019 yielded beautifully ripe and aromatic Sangiovese, with herbal infused red
berry flavors, but it all came at the expense of pale, ruby color in the finished
wine, akin to hue of a classic Pinot Noir. Suffice it to say that 2019 Sangiovese
grown in the Texas High Plains was very reminiscent of the paler Nielluccio wines
produced on the island of Corsica.

Stylistically, this wine is very different from the Sangiovese we normally produce,
being a softer, prettier wine that begs to be served on the patio, slightly chilled,
during the lovely transition from Summer to Fall in Texas. This medium bodied acidic wine has flavors of ripe and tart red fruit, sour cherry, savory herbs, and dark rock.
